On the day

From arriving to results

Everything a leader needs to know before Saturday morning. Read it once and you won’t be guessing on the day.

How the day runs

Before the dayDownload the app and sign in. Your coordinator can see your exact Start Zone on the booking dashboard, and start times go out to coordinators as soon as we can release them after the cut-off.
From 9:00Marshals are on site at every Start Zone from nine o’clock, so there’s someone to find as soon as you arrive.
10 minutes before, that team onlyBe there ten minutes before, but only the team that’s about to start. If your group has several teams, the others should hold back and walk up when their own turn comes. Start Zones get busy and we need to keep numbers down. Turning up late doesn’t move your start time either, it just eats into your own playing day.
Don’t skip this9:30 to 10:00Check in at your Start Zone at your allocated time. That is what starts your game. Then set off. Teams go in waves every five minutes, and times are allocated automatically, so check yours rather than assume.
The next 7½ hoursLondon is yours. 22 properties plus stations and utilities, in whatever order you like. Buy, charge rent, answer the quiz, take on challenges. Each of your teams is out on its own, not moving round together as one group.
When your time’s upYour game ends wherever you happen to be when your time runs out. There’s no trek back to the Start Zone, so agree with your group where you’ll meet up afterwards before you set off in the morning.
About an hour laterFull results go up online. Expect the debrief to last the whole journey home.
The day afterEvery team gets its own in-depth analysis page, a complete picture of how their day actually went. It stays up for about a week after the run.

What to bring

There’s no kit list to panic about. One thing is genuinely essential, the rest is comfort.

Essential

At least one phone with data

Everyone in the team can log in and follow the game on their own phone. Check-ins are the exception, because only one phone in the team can do those. Agree which one before you set off.

The Monopoly Run app

On the App Store and Google Play. Install and sign in before the day, not at your Start Zone.

Strongly recommended

Comfortable shoes

You’ll be on your feet for most of seven and a half hours.

Layers, not one big coat

Early March can be cold standing still, but you’ll warm up fast walking, and the Tube is hot. Layers you can take off and put back on beat one thick coat you end up carrying.

A water bottle

Cheaper and easier than hunting for a shop mid-route.

Up to you

Packed lunch or money

Most teams prefer to carry a bit of cash and grab something while they’re out.

A power bank

Not required, but a flat phone ends your game early.

There’s always someone on the other end

Control is staffed all day. You are never on your own out there.

Live chat in the app

Message Control directly from the app and get a reply while you keep moving.

Call Control

0333 358 3447. Staffed throughout the run for anything urgent.

Tube alerts

Delays and closures are pushed to the app so you can reroute before you waste valuable time.

Know what you’re signing up to? Good.
